I first started noticing a change in my hearing in my early twenties. After visits to several different ENTs and audiologists, I discovered that I have a rare kind of hearing loss called the “cookie bite” which basically means that I can hear high sounds ok but I struggle with mid-range to low frequencies. Most people have trouble with the high frequencies which is what most hearing aid companies cater to. For years I was wearing the wrong aid…an in the ear canal aid that was helping me somewhat but I was still struggling. It gave me a “plugged up” feeling that I didn’t like. Years passed and I finally decided that I couldn’t take it anymore. I needed a new pair. That’s when I met Jared Talarico at Audiology & Hearing Aid Solutions. Jared was a total pro from the very beginning. It was quite clear to me from the start that he was very knowledgeable and knew his stuff.

He walked me through the process and patiently answered all the questions that I had. He suggested we try out a pair of Oticon aids which I took for a test drive. I liked the aids but had some misgivings. After several adjustments and consultations with Jared, he decided that maybe it would be best to try out a pair of Phonak hearing aids instead. He came to this conclusion based on my specific concerns after trying out the Oticons. I have to say I noticed a profound difference immediately! The Phonaks were leaps and bounds better for my type of hearing loss than any other aid I have ever tried hands down! There is absolutely no white noise! I no longer hear the air conditioner whirling in the background. I no longer cringe at the sound of traffic that was too amplified by the other aids. I can hear on the phone…with no whistling! The ultimate test though came the other day when I took my son to a 7 year olds birthday party at a cavernous indoor sports complex with music blaring. I was actually able to have a conversation with the woman sitting next to me and hear every single word she was saying. All the other noise (kids screaming, music, etc.) was simply in the background at a comfortable level. My hearing is so natural with these aids. Sometimes I forget I have them on! I am a very social person with a young family. So I really needed something that would work with my active lifestyle. I can go to a noisy restaurant and hear my friends speaking. With the other aids all I could hear was the clanking of plates and crowd noise. This is no longer an issue. These aids have completely changed my life and I have Jared to thank for it. He is extremely skilled at what he does and he really listened to my issues. This investment was well worth it. Thank you so much!!!!!
