Treating Tinnitus
In the past, tinnitus treatment didn’t exist. While there is no known cure for tinnitus, there are ways to effectively manage your symptoms. Dietary supplements, such as Lipoflavonoid and Taurine, have been used in tinnitus treatment with some success.
At Audiology & Hearing Aid Solutions, located in Northern New Jersey, we are able to provide you with techniques to manage your tinnitus symptoms, providing relief and improve your quality of life.
We begin with a hearing evaluation, in an effort to determine the cause of your tinnitus. If we discover the cause and are able to treat it directly, the symptoms may disappear. Most times, however, a combination of options is required for effective tinnitus treatment and management.
Hearing Aids for Tinnitus
We carry the Oticon More™, Widex Moment, and Phonak Paradise hearing aids with Tinnitus SoundSupport. These hearing devices help you take control of your tinnitus by playing a wide range of relief sounds like white noise and soothing ocean-like sounds. With Oticon More™, you can discreetly control the sounds in your hearing aids using the Oticon App for iPhone and Android. You can adjust the sounds until they give the relief you need — wherever you find yourself needing it.
For successful tinnitus treatment, we also recommend and provide counseling. Many people who have tinnitus find themselves in a vicious cycle. Tinnitus causes anxiety and stress, which may cause insomnia, which increases the perception of the condition. Counseling may provide you with coping skills needed to reduce the anxiety, tension, and depression that often accompany tinnitus.
Many people find listening to certain sounds soothing, reducing the frustration and making tinnitus symptoms more bearable. Whether it is music, nature sounds, or the crashing of ocean waves, find something you enjoy listening to and try to relax.
