Summer means hot weather and an increase in hearing aid challenges!

When it comes to technology, moisture is the culprit for many hearing aid problems. Excessive moisture due to high humidity and sweat can cause distortion, static and a host of other issues. To help avoid the time and expense of a manufacturer repair, follow these tips:

  • Leave your hearing aid battery door open when it’s not in use to allow it dry it out.
  • Purchase a hearing aid dehumidifier.
  • If you’re a heavy sweater, take breaks from your activities and wipe excess moisture from your hearing aids with a soft cloth.
  • Use a moisture guard if you wear BTE hearing aids.
  • Avoid leaving your hearing aids in direct sunlight or other hot areas.
  • If you’re still having problems with your hearing aids, don’t dry them in the microwave or with a hairdryer. Leave the devices to aid dry – most of the moisture will often evaporate.
